Featured Installation: Montgomery County Center for Adolescent Services

correctional furnitureThe Montgomery County Center for Adolescent Services in New Lebanon, OH recently joined an emerging trend in which correctional facilities are using color to humanize their environments. Research indicates that color in justice facilities can calm the equilibrium, promote dignity, provide positive distractions, and keep staff and inmates safer, among other benefits.

At this facility, officials chose correctional furniture in Norix’s Naturals and High Brights color palettes – hues that are inspired by nature and that were intentionally picked to normalize spaces that have historically been institution in nature.

Products that the facility chose from Norix Furniture include:

correctional furnitureHondo Nuevo Lounge Series – A contemporary line of unique furniture that combines superior durability, comfort and style and that includes chair, bench and wedge options that allow for flexible, modular seating arrangements.

Max-Master Series – Engineered for superior strength and durability, the Max-Master series is particularly well suited for dining halls and dayrooms where reliable performance is a must. Whether bolted to the floor or freestanding on adjustable glides, the distinctive individual seat/leg design provides superior stability than traditional pedestal tables.

X-Base Series – This institutional-grade table defines each person’s space and hinders the passing of contraband from one individual to another on the opposite side. The X-Base Table is used in high-security and special needs facilities all across the country.

The facility looks unlike the vast majority of correctional facilities you will see anywhere in the United States. Murals and the color on doors and walls match the Norix Furniture products and create a harmonized environment that is appropriate for the age group that will be housed there.
