Lazarus House in St. Charles, IL serves families in St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia and western rural Kane County who are homeless or are in need of shelter or services, according to its website. The facility provides a 24/7 emergency shelter that is open 365 days a year and operates the only transitional housing program in the Tri-Cities and western rural Kane County area.
The facility opened in 1997 as a warm weather shelter for homeless individuals in St. Charles and expanded greatly over the years to its present day operation which includes the Center for Transitional Living, the Daytime Center for Women and Children and the Community Resource Center, which provides outreach for homeless prevention, among many other programs, events and efforts.
“Lazarus House strives to give hope and a future to the homeless and those in need who daily face challenges in which they often feel they have no place to turn for help,” Liz Eakins, Executive Director of The Lazarus House, said. “Whether these individuals are seeking help due to job loss, illness, domestic violence, addiction or mental health issues, Lazarus House strives to provide the necessary services that every man, woman and child needs. This is not always an easy task and sometimes one to which the individual is resistant. Fortunately, there is a dedicated group of staff and volunteers helping each person toward goals that will help them regain independence.”

About Norix Gives
The Norix Gives donation program is employee-driven, with staff members choosing nonprofits or charities and making site visits to facilities to assess needs, then bringing proposals before the Norix Gives Committee for consideration. Causes, organizations and facilities that are considered for the program include:
- Local causes in Kane or DuPage counties.
- Causes that help Norix people – staff, vendors, reps – with any hardships they may be facing.
- Causes that serve our markets – healthcare, behavioral healthcare, shelters, military, correctional transition efforts and others.
